INFOPC Win95 - XP Edutainment DAA Ages: 4-6Part of the famous Blaster series by Davidson,this program helps kids 4-6 master reading.This program was previously published as Reading Blaster Jr.The Blaster Pals are on a spaceship exploring the cosmos.There are 4 fun planets to explore,each with an exciting activity.On the Planet of Lost Things,kids begin with letter sounds.This is one of the best phonics activities on CD-ROM.Kids are asked to find something that begins with the letter "S".The letter sound is repeated several times.In upper levels kids find words.At the Toy Station children identify words that begin or end with a sound.Once again letter sounds and words are annunciated clearly for increased understanding.When children choose correct words they are rewarded with toy pieces to make a wacky toy.The Word Builder is a crazy game show style game where players build words with letters.Kids really learn to sound out words as the sounds are pronounced for each letter as the word is built.The Planet of Storyheads is a zany planet where heads tell parts of a story.The problem is the stories are mixed up.Kids must use reading comprehension,listening and sequencing skills to put the story parts in order and the story is read to them.The "Read Alone" mode encourages kids to read independently.In the spaceship kids can experiment with the silly sentence maker,send and receive letters from the Blaster pals,listen to catchy songs and explore the talking dictionary.This program helps students identify phonic sounds and letter blends,learn to sound out words,recognize key words by sight and increase reading comprehension.Learning to read with phonics has never been so much fun.
